How’s your wish list shaping up for the holiday season? Is “Get rid of that old parking ticket!!” on there somewhere? Park Cedar Rapids’ Forget the Fine Donation Drive is here to help with that one.
There are many people here in Cedar Rapids whose lists don’t start with wishes. Instead, they start with needs like cots and pillows to sleep on; hats and gloves to bear the cold; and hygiene essentials like deodorant, toothbrushes and shampoo.
This holiday season, Park Cedar Rapids is renewing its Forget the Fine Donation Drive to help out some of those who need it most. Through Dec. 20, 2017, outstanding parking citations can be paid for in part or entirely with donations for local non-profit partners.
A lot of times people say something’s easy as one, two, three. With Forget the Fine, it really is:
1. Bring your citation(s)* and donation(s) to the Park Cedar Rapids office at 349 4th Ave. SE.
2. Bring a receipt from purchasing your donation(s) to validate the amount counted toward the citation(s). If no receipt is available, our staff will value the donation(s) based on similar donations.
3. Enjoy some candy from the candy jar while we quickly handle the paperwork.
Items requested by Waypoint, Willis Dady and Horizons for this year’s drive include:
|| Coffee Grounds/Filters
|| Non-Perishable Snack Food
|| Laundry Detergent
|| XL Outdoor Garbage Bags
|| Winter Hats/Gloves
|| Grocery Store Gift Cards
Whoops! Forgot step four: Feel good! Because of your donation, that parking ticket is off your hands and people in Cedar Rapids will have a brighter holiday season.
*Total value of citations cannot exceed $100 per parker.
