Park Cedar Rapids and the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (MVRBC) are partnering up to host the first parking citation forgiveness blood drive so community members have a chance to Save a Life and Forget the Fine!
Every year over 4.5 million people need a blood transfusion and Park Cedar Rapids wants to encourage the community to help provide this lifesaving resource and get a little something in return. Anyone who volunteers to donate blood at any of the Park Cedar Rapids hosted blood drives will have one citation dismissed. Some limitations apply.
Blood drives will be hosted at 349 4th Avenue SE, in the MVRBC Donor Bus on the following dates:
Wednesday, July 8th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Tuesday, July 14th, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Thursday, August 13th, from 7:30 am to 11 am
Friday August 21st, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Spaces are limited, so please schedule your donation appointment in advance. To donate, please visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 2998 to locate the drive. Or, contact Alex Kline at 319-365-7275.
Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through www.bloodcenter.org) and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. or MVRBC Donor Card is required to donate. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. Donors who last gave blood on or before 5/13/15 are eligible to give at the July 8th drive.
Volunteer donors will have one (1) Park Cedar Rapids issued Meter Violation or Overtime Parking citation dismissed, and receive a free t-shirt. Monthly parkers and those without parking citations are still welcome and encouraged to participate.
Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors.
