Park Cedar Rapids officially unveiled Monday afternoon two sets of murals recently installed in its facilities. The murals represent another step toward Park Cedar Rapids’ vision of enhancing the downtown experience, improving both visual appeal and way-finding for downtown parkers.
“Today, with the recent completion of two enhancement projects, I want to invite everybody to help me kind of usher in and welcome hopefully a new era in downtown Cedar Rapids,” said Park Cedar Rapids General Manager Jon Rouse.
Cedar Rapids’ Black Earth Gallery and Murals & More sourced artists for the projects at the Ground Transportation Center Ramp and Convention Center Ramp, respectively.
“I feel that we formed a strong partnership – I’d like to quickly thank both Black Earth Gallery and Murals & More – where I think we were able to accomplish something that was a little more pleasing, inviting and really enhancing for the environment,” Rouse said of the partnerships.
These new sets of murals are just the beginning of Park Cedar Rapids’ vision for transforming the way parking is perceived, from its feasibility to its aesthetic appeal.
“I am certainly optimistic that we can continue to engage in these types of projects and more forward in 2018 and beyond.”
